My daughter was born profoundly deaf. We were excited for her to get cochlear implants, but dismayed at how difficult it was to get her hearing aids to stay on her tiny ears during the wait before her surgery. Once my daughter was implanted at 12 months old, we knew it was critical that she wear her processors as much as possible to optimize her hearing and speech development.
I started making these fashionable, soft, and comfortable elastic cochlear implant headbands. The movable loops on Sophia's headbands make it easy to anchor her processors behind her ear with the earhook. We've saved on countless repairs and replacements by keeping the processors from falling off. In the classroom, Sophia wears these with an FM receiver unit on each ear.
